old navy beats american apparel?!

By now, most people who pay attention know about American Apparel's iconic v-neck:

It's lightweight, it's soft, it's uber-casual...oh and it's $24. For some, $24 for a tri-blend v-neck is whatever, but for some of us - who prefer to look like schleppy bums at a low cost - well, we need a better deal. Enter Old Navy...WHAT? Yeah, Old Navy...

Old Navy has a whole wall of lightweight cotton v-necks right now for their "basics" collection. On the site it says they're $10.50, but I got mine for $8.50 in the store. And even though this picture makes the shirt look form-fitting...they're totally amorphous and loose - perfect actually.

Oh and in case you're trying to do the math in your head, let me save you the trouble - the American Apparel t-shirts are almost 3-times as much as the Old Navy ones.

Godspeed shoppers.

hurricane procrastination

Whether you're held up at home waiting for a hurricane, or procrastinating - avoiding work that actually REALLY needs to get done this weekend (like moi) - everybody loves a good gif.

Actually I can't really promise that this is a good one, but it's a gif nonetheless. These images were taken over the winter with my friend Lizzy, I did a post about it HERE. Cool, whatever. Blah blah...

Kadeem Johnson: Reinvigorating Men's Accessories

In case you haven't been on the internet in the last two years, you should be aware that some things have changed. Streaming music has gotten way more awesome. Top-secret government documents were made available to the public and it caused quite a stir. "Trending" has become a disturbingly popular social media-related word. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, stylish men have begun to take on new levels of accessorizing that are playful, elegant, and retro yet innovative.

That said, let me now introduce you to Kadeem Johnson, creator of the blog K.john LaSoul and overall uber-stylish dude:

Bloggers Wear: Detachable Collars

"Bloggers Wear": Highlighting items that bloggers wear, how they wear them, and what they're thinking while they do. Today's edition: the detachable collar.

glisterandblisters, justanotherfashionblog, paniekscelenja, ftbh, outofabook (above: manrepeller)

Oh hey guys...yeah you know whatever - just chillin on the street in my detachable collar. Think it's weird? You're probably right. Do I care? Hell-to-the-nuuuh-oooohhh!! While you're off being serious and caring about trends - with your pastel monogrammed Louis bag and those heinous Prada creepers - I'm having a grand ol' time being off-trend and not giving a fuck. I take pictures with disposable cameras, sometimes I buy nightgowns from the dollar store and wear them as dresses...like, I dunno I just do random shit like that you know?!

...Huh? Oh...well I mean, if detachable collars are trendy now, I was doing it waythefuck before they were. Plus, I never pay attention to what other people are doing...I really don't care. I'm the girl who wears black with brown...I wear white year-round...sometimes I even like dye my hair out of a box or like wear reeeeally ugly granny sunglasses from the 1950's that nobody else would even touch. If I find a ring that's way too small I'll just wear it on my first knuckle...oh and also, I started that billions-of-holes-in-your-tights trend...true story.

And no, I'm not buying those new DANNIJO detachable collar necklaces...I'd sooner die than support the commodification of trendsetters.

i wear colors

Remember when I made fun of "color blocking" as a so-called "trend"? Well guess what...I did it...yes - I, Mihal Freinquel, wore two bright colors together...at the same time...in one outfit.

My good friend Kadeem Johnson took the pics...I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have photog friends who can take this awkward unphotogenic girl, and turn me into a...less awkward, still mostly unphotogenic girl.
